Three Letter Acronyms (TLA)

Today's TLA is TTE.

Turning Twenty-Eight

My sister once told me that I look like a giant 8 year old. And I think now that I have turned 28 I am taking that as a compliment. I just hope I don't act like an 8 year old anymore. Although thinking back being 8 wasn't that bad. Let's see 20 years ago, I just arrived here in America. I remember playing tee ball in Eagle Rock. I remembered that I realized my birthday fell in the summer time and was never during the school year. I can't believe 1986 was 20 years ago. I remember my parent's decision to bite the bullet and enroll us to private Catholic schools vs. public Los Angeles Unified District schools. Thanks Mama and Papa for biting the bullet.

I remember that summer vividly, it was the summer before going to school. Our situation here in America was still up in the air. Were we going to go back to the PI or stay in LA? Wow, just writing about this is really sureal. I mean what if I grew up in the Philippines? Who would my friends be? How would God have molded my life if I grew up in Manila? Anyways, as I turned 28, I know that God has continuously blessed me in my life. The truth is that God didn't make me grow up in Manila, and for that I am very thankful to Him. God has given me great opportunites and great relationships growing up here in America. I have so many wonderful friends in Los Angeles and here in the Bay Area. I can't thank Him enough. Life is really interesting that way, and from my parent's perspective probably very stressful back then? Jeez louieez... I am just thinking in the future for my sister's and brother-in-law's baby. What are the choices and decisions they have to make in their children's life. Now that is real grown up stuff. And from that perspective I am still an 8 year old, because well I don't have the responsibility of having a child.

I am praying that it will be a healthier 28th year, my 27th year sucked with regard to my health. I will try to stay healthy and have a more balanced life. I am coming to the realization that I love being 28. It's 22 years away from being 50.

Enjoy,
Jonathan
