Three Letter Acronyms (TLA)

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

Today's TLA is IAP

I Am Poor

While talking with my girlfriend Erica. She recently told me that there are roughly 11 million millionaires on a planet that has roughly 7 billion people living on planet earth.

Anyways... as being one of the 6,989,000,000 who is not a millionaire, I am amazed with the fact that such a small percentage of people around the world control such a majority of wealth across the world. Isn't this just wrong? The haves own everything and the have nots own nothing. How are we so different from 2000 years ago when God's only son came to this world? Wasn't His mission to change this statistic? Shouldn't Christianity and we Christians change this statistic? The fair distribution of wealth, equal opportunity and access to capital for a loan with a fair interest, and equal distribution of food and shelter should be common basic services which all people can and should fight for. And also encourage those who are part of the 11 million millionaires to give cheerfully to the rest of us bottom feeders. All this analysis just really got to me, is the American dream to be one of the 11 million millionaires? If so, then dear heavenly gracious God please wake us up from this tragic American nightmare!

Enjoy,
Jonathan
