Three Letter Acronyms (TLA)

Wednesday, January 07, 2004

Today's TLA of the day is LTF.

Live The Fourth...

I am still in Sao Paulo and it is now the 8th of January...Losing my passport was not the real issue of my trip to Brasil. Leaving has been an enduring effort to say the least. I ended up buying a ticket to LAX from Sao Paulo, It has been a very frustrating effort to have standby tickets... I am farely very very surprised as far as internet infrastructure within Sao Paulo and Rio... The women in Brasil are the most beautiful women I have ever seen in my lifetime... White, Black, Indian, Portuguese, Japanese, and even Chinese are all interacially mixed... However, there still seems to be the ever present social hierarchical economic class issue which face all third world countries. Poor people are still poor, and unfortunately rich people are still rich... and the distribution of the cash is still highly biased towards the rich...Anyways, Rio is the best city on earth, we hung out at a local dive restaurant which served "Praixa de dia" or plate of the day... The food was dirt cheap and really really good. We made friends with the local chef and workers at the dive restaurant and they took us to their local dance club in Guanabarra Bay in Rio. If we contrast Americans and Brasileiros/as, Americans are the mean, fat, and ugly. While, the people of Brasil are the friendly healthy beautiful people. Its like I feel I just graduated from college again and this trip slapped me to a new chapter in my life. I would seriously consider teaching Mathematics, Computer Science, even the cool stuff in Information Extraction / Information Retrieval stuff or even English in Brasil... Oh yeah, did I mention women here are really really good looking...(hahaha) My high school Spanish has helped me a lot during this trip. Although the pronunciation of Portuguese is very very difficult. Its like they are talking Russian or Arabic sometimes its quite confusing. I can read portuguese farely well, but I need to practice pronunciation of words. I was very proud of the fact I could communicate to the local police magistrate to expedite a police report and make copies for the passport so I can leave Brasil. Anyways, I think I want to go to Asia or Africa as my next big trip in my lifetime. Feliz Ano Novo!!!!

Enjoy,
Jonathan
