The Motorcycle Diaries

First and foremost, I would like to say that I knew nothing about Ernesto "Che" Guaverra prior to this movie other than he was on a lot of t-shirts worn by suburbanite hipsters... Perhaps I should have since I visited Peru earlier this year.

This movie really demonstrated how beautiful the people of South America are. This movie demonstrated the scenery, the culture, the food, the lifestyle, the poverty, the strength, the thing that made him Che... There is just something powerful about traveling. And seeing how other people survive and live their life. The movie was very respectful to the people of South America. To me that is what was so stunning and captivating about this film. It was well acted and it reminded me of my travels in South America.

There was a scene where they were buying food in either Chile or Peru. They captured that raw feeling of going through the markets in the main street in Puno. To me that was very relevant. I think that is what makes this film different. The relevancy and experiences of what made young Ernesto change into a leader and who fought for people. I too want to know what difference will it make in my life. Perhaps I am not going to be Che and start a communist revolution, but I know I want to make a change in the world.

I know God wanted me to learn something about traveling in South America. I don't think it was just for the experience. I think it was for something more meaningful. I realize that we have a commonality as human beings. Because for every person who might do you wrong. There are always people in the world who want do you right. It could be as simple as cup of mate tea from a hotel owner, to dancing, conversing,
and hanging out with some of the friendliest and warmest women on the planet.

At any rate, I think I am looking for a new opportunity where God can use my old talents of organizing and activism and my new talents in the software engineering to make a difference in our evil and selfish world.

Enjoy,
Jonathan
